Lord, only you could be the perfect Servant, the perfect Sacrifice. No one else can represent God’s chosen people and save them from our sin. You did for us what we could not do for ourselves. You willingly went to the cross, suffering at every step, and you died for us—for me. Lord, I confess my lack of gratitude. I do not praise you as I should. Grow my capacity to worship, to glory in what you have done for me. Use this season of Lent to expand my heart and fill it with admiration for you, my Savior and my God. Help me also to live by your example, not retaliate when I am wronged, not return reviling for reviling, but to trust that God has a plan for even my suffering. Work this in my heart by your Spirit, so that I might glorify you with my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
